The announcement follows the Israel Defense Forces' announcement that it had launched a fresh round of attacks in Iran.

The city's air defense system was triggered, according to a report from the semi-official news source Fars.

The main nuclear research facility in Iran is located in Isfahan, which has previously been the target of Israeli attacks.

Iranian official television reported that a strike on a residence in Qom killed two people.

According to official media, a strike late an apartment building in the eastern Iranian city of the Qom on Saturday left two people dead and four others injured.
